Oh man. They don't make them like this anymore. These upright cabinet. Grand's pianos are some of the most rich and amazing sounding pianos ever made. This one is in beautiful condition and sounds great. Made just after the turn of the century in 1909, this piano was handcrafted by one of America's premier piano manufacturers.
Being 115 years hold not only makes it an incredibly amazing antique piano, but also a piece of American history. If pianos could talk, they would be the best storytellers ever!
Gorgeous, wood grain and beautiful original keys made of you know what.
The Schaeffer Piano Manufacturing Company (not to be confused with the newer Schaeffer & Sons brand that was popular in the 1980s – 1990s period) was established in New York by William Schaeffer in 1873. The firm was immediately successful and moved from New York to larger factories in Chicago in 1888. Late 19th Century records show The Schaeffer Piano Manufacturing Company at 213 Wabash Avenue, Chicago.
The Schaeffer brand name appears to have been discontinued about 1931 due to the Great Depression. We have had a number of Schaeffer pianos come through our restoration shop over the years. We find them to be very solid, well made instruments overall
