Oh man! They don't make'm like this anymore that's for sure. Antique upright grand pianos are in my opinion some of the best sounding pianos ever made. Nothing sounds like an antique upright, with a full grand piano size soundboard it has an incredibly rich and full tone and a booming bass!!!
This piano plays and sounds amazing. It has been fully inspected and cleaned and given a clean bill of health which which should ensure many many more years of faithful service.
It has the original ivory keys in great condition. ( Who would have ever thought that killing elephants for a piano was a good idea, not us but we try to preserve all of them that we can)
Isaac Packard originally established his firm as “The Packard Organ Company” in 1871 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Packard only built organs until 1893, incorporating pianos into their line in about 1894 and changing the name of the company to “The Packard Piano & Organ Company”. Packard started out offering upright and baby grand pianos, adding player pianos in the first decade of the twentieth century.
Packard was known for building very high quality pianos, and they were known for their frequent use of lavish woods and elegant cabinet design styles. In addition to the Packard brand name, the firm built pianos under the names of Bond Piano Company and Elsinger Piano Company. Packard managed to survive the Great Depression, but they were purchased by the larger Story & Clark Piano Company in 1938. Story & Clark continued to build
